Our Lady Star of the Sea is a very special Marian devotion honoring Our Blessed Mother. In Latin her title is Stella Maris, and in the medieval times, Stella Maris was used as a title for Polaris, the guiding north star. Her feast day is September 27th.

Saint Bernard wrote the following quote in regards to Stella Maris;

“If the winds of temptation arise; if you are driven upon the rocks of tribulation look to the star, call on Mary. If you are tossed upon the waves of pride, of ambition, of envy, of rivalry, look to the star, call on Mary. Should anger, or avarice, or fleshly desire violently assail the frail vessel of your soul, look at the star, call upon Mary. may choose to hang it near the kitchen table and say 5 at breakfast, 5 at lunch, and 5 at dinner. Another way to use this poster is to place by one’s bed, as a reminder to pray before bed or upon waking.”
