Mary Star of the Sea Devotion

As far back as early medieval times, we hear Our Lady referred to as Star of the Sea. It appears to have come from a spelling error, however with all it’s symbolism, it doesn’t seem like an error at all! Since Mary leads us to Christ as the stars guide the sailor’s to safety, we can call upon her. Of course she wants to help us navigate the waters of life! Her feast day is September 27th. May Mary be the star of our sea as she shows us how to direct our lives Christ.

Color Mary with the Masters
Our Mary coloring page is taken from the 19th century painting Star of the Sea. The artist is unknown and the work is in the public domain. Whoever painted the image, placed the Blessed Mother and Christ child in the forefront of the painting, giving them dominance of the stormy scene. The Christ Child blesses the waters as sailors off in the distance are tossed about the waves. In the painting, colors are muted, giving the image a calm feel despite the rough waters.
