The Meaning Behind the Handprint Easter Lily Craft
Lilium longiflorum, or Easter Lillies are a flowering plant native to Japan and Taiwan. In Luke 12:27 Jesus asks us to consider the Lillies, making them a popular symbol in Christianity. Specifically they symbolize purity, new life, and the Resurrection of Christ. With their white color and spring bloom, they are perfect to illustrate the pure and new life we find in Christ. They are also symbolic of St. Joseph and his chastity!
I think my favorite symbolism for the Easter Lily is in relation to Christ’s Agony in the garden. A pious legend tells us that when Christ resurrected, Easter Lilies grew in the same spots where His Precious Blood fell just days before. How beautiful! Christ makes all things new!
