Why Sourdough?
By mixing together flour and water over several days, you end up with Sourdough! A natural process, of the flour fermenting causes the rising power for your baked goods. Fermented foods are high in gut friendly bacteria, and are more easily digestible. The nutrients in a sourdough bread is more readily available for the body to absorb.
It is important to note They can be problematic for people with histamine intolerance and if you have any issues with gluten you should discuss this with your trusted healthcare professional.
These baked banana sourdough donuts use sourdough discard. This is unripe starter that you would through away or use in a discard recipe. It cannot raise a loaf of bread, but to gain the benefits of the fermentation should still be a developed starter.
This starter would be rising in the jar, have tons of bubbles and smell, like sourdough!
